The starting point
The domain already had a site: an unfinished WordPress.com starter produced by an AI site builder. It listed team members and testimonials that did not exist and two price lists that contradicted each other. There was nothing worth keeping, so I audited it, rebuilt the business site from scratch and retired the old pages with redirects.
What I built
- A fast static site. About two dozen pages built with Astro, with self-hosted fonts and no JavaScript except on the contact form. Each page is 18 to 32 KB of HTML.
- Published prices. Website packages from $300, a monthly maintenance plan and clear quoting for larger work, each with what is included and what is not.
- Service pages and articles. A page for each kind of work, a service-area page for the Flathead Valley, and practical articles for small businesses.
- Honest case studies. Every project is labeled by how it was built: as an employee, on a client team, as my own product, or as earlier work. Every claim on the site traces to a live site, my résumé or this portfolio.
- An inquiry form. Netlify Forms with spam filtering and a honeypot field. Links from a service page open it with that service already chosen.
Quality checks
- Accessibility. An automated QA script runs axe-core against every page at desktop and phone widths, at WCAG 2.2 AA. It reports zero violations, and keyboard use of the menu and form was checked by hand.
- SEO. Unique titles and descriptions, canonical URLs, structured data and a sitemap, all checked by the same script along with internal links and redirects.
- Security. A strict Content Security Policy with no inline scripts, and no database, admin login or plugins to patch.
- Workflow. The site lives in a private GitHub repository. Pull requests get a preview URL, and a merge to the main branch publishes in about 30 seconds.
